"Our Name Says It All!"

About Us

Santiago Torres & John Ogden started True Family Auto Repair in December of 1998 when working out of their North Lake garage got too cold. But seriously, Santiago and John saw a need in the area for a quality auto repair shop with integrity, so they rented a shop, offering general auto repair and truck transport services.

Twelve years down the road, Santiago and John decided to go their separate ways. John kept the transport business, and Santiago took the mechanic shop. However, as the mechanic shop had grown significantly, there was a need to move to a larger facility, which Santiago did, to our current location at 1621 N. 31st Avenue in Melrose Park, where we have six bays and a clean, comfortable office with waiting area.

I had a great experience at True Family Auto Repair. I was having troubles with my car, I first called Santiago and gave him a short synopsis of what was going on with it. He gave me an ideal what was happening and asked me to bring the car in. He pinpointed the trouble and explained to me how to correct the problem and corrected it. He was professional, friendly, respectful and his business was clear. I highly recommend Santiago for all your car maintenance needs.

I went to True Family Auto Repair after I couldn't pass the Emissions test, 4 straight times in a role. Santiago was actually recommended to me by someone who work at one of the Emissions Testing Centers. In less than 10 minutes Santiago pinpointed the problem and sent me back to the Testing Center, in which I passed. Santiago is a gentleman and honest. He did not try to take advantage of me because I am a woman, nor did he talk down to me. I highly recommend True Family Auto for all your car maintenance need. I had an excellent experience and will return as needed.

Attention LT1 engine owners!!!!!! If you don't have a mechanic, your search is over. I own a 97 Firebird Formula, LT1 engine with high performance package. After an engine rebuild, I picked-up the car from the rebuilder with a belt squeal. Neither the rebuilder nor (5) other mechanics could figure the cause. After wasting $1500, I was referred to True Family by a friend who owns a 95 Camaro with a LT1 race engine. He had an overheating problem that wouldn't go away until he went to True Family. So, I took my Firebird to True Family, and they resolved the problem before I got back home. It turned out to be a coolant valve that was not closed tightly by the rebuilder leaking on the belt. Since then, they are my exclusive mechanic, even for oil changes. For those of you not car savvy, if they can fix a LT1, they can handle anything. For accurate diagnosis and solid repair, True Auto is the place. I have owned this Firebird for 15 years and always worked on it myself before serious back problems.
